"The Deaprtment of Education does not accredit schools or recognize Private Accrediting Agencies.  Here is a quote from the Department of Education's website: "  The United States has no Federal Ministry of Education or other centralized authority exercising single national control over postsecondary educational institutions in this country. The States assume varying degrees of control over education, but, in general, institutions of higher education are permitted to operate with considerable independence and autonomy. As a consequence, American educational institutions can vary widely in the character and quality of their programs."

"In order to ensure a basic level of quality, the practice of accreditation arose in the United States as a means of conducting non-governmental, peer evaluation of educational institutions and programs. Private educational associations of regional or national scope have adopted criteria reflecting the qualities of a sound educational program and have developed procedures for evaluating institutions or programs to determine whether or not they are operating at basic levels of quality."

The National Academic Higher Education LLC is a recognized agency and was established in Washington DC in 2007. The NAcHED was brought forth to establish a high measure of peer evaluation to the schools in which it accredits. The peer evaluation is to ensure the acceptance of the college and university degrees from the schools which are accredited through the agency. The NAcHED has strict policies for those institutions of higher learning to meet before they are awarded the Seal of Academic Approval or Accreditation.

The list of schools that have applied have been numerous, but some schools were denied based upon the fact they did not meet the criteria after peer evaluation by the National Academic Higher Education LLC. The NAcHED has a policy to help the newer schools to become mainstream through the accreditation process, but also has a policy to protect the graduates from the schools that do not meet the standards set forth in the Academe.

Prospective students must also take the responsibility of checking with their potential employers if they will receive a college or university degree from a particular school as all employers have their own set standards. This is also true among schools: Each school will receive or reject certain college or university credits from other schools. This situation is true among all accredited and non-accredited schools alike.

The National Academic Higher Education is an affiliate of the Christian State Department. All three are listed in the Educause Directory which awards .edu domains to institutions of higher learning. The National Academic Higher Education LLC has .edu and .pro domains as the and Christian State Department.
